Gin Sour Cocktail Recipe

GIN SOUR COCKTAIL Recipe

The Gin Sour cocktail is a very enjoyable classic cocktail. Light, refreshing and with a lot of character, this sour is one of the original beverages of its kind, enjoyed in a similar manner since the late 1800s. This Gin Sour recipe is not the oldest, but it is for sure a favorite bar version for most of the 20th century. Gin, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup make for a sour taste with the right hint of sweetness for balance. Include the egg white for a luscious foam, but if you want to skip it, the drink will still be fantastic.

INGREDIENTS

  • 60 ml/ 2 oz. London Dry Gin
  • 30 ml/ 1 oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 15 ml/ ½ oz. simple syrup
  • 15 ml/ ½ oz. egg white (optional)
  • 3 dashes of Angostura bitters

METHOD

  1. Add the Gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and egg white (if using) into a shaker and vigorously dry-shake (without ice) if using egg white. (If not using egg white, skip the dry shake and move to the next step.)
  2. Add ice and shake again until well-chilled.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  4. Garnish with a lemon twist. Or if using egg white, decorate the frothy top with 3 dashes of Angostura bitters.

NOTES
