Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said Cocktail Recipe

FLOW MY TEARS, THE POLICEMAN SAID COCKTAIL Recipe

The cocktail Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said is named after science fiction novel of the same name of the year 1974 by American writer Philip K. Dick. The novel is set in a futuristic dystopia where the United States has become a police state in the aftermath of a Second American Civil War. The story follows genetically enhanced pop singer and television star Jason Taverner who wakes up in a world where he has never existed. If that’s too complicated for you, the cocktail definitely exists.

INGREDIENTS

  • 60 ml/ 2 oz. light Rum
  • 20 ml/ ⅔ oz. Apricot Brandy
  • 20 ml/ ⅔ oz. Green Chartreuse
  • 15 ml/ ½ oz. freshly squeezed lime juice

METHOD

  1. Pour all ingredients into shaker with ice cubes.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Strain into chilled cocktail glass.
  4. Garnish with an apricot wedge.

NOTES

Green Chartreuse (55% alcohol) is the original 1737 green liqueur, made from the 1605 recipe by Chartreuse Monks even today. The colour chartreuse is named after this liqueur.

Yellow Chartreuse (40% alcohol) was introduced in the 1800’s and is a milder, sweeter flavour and aroma than it’s older brother.
