The cocktail Le Coquetiez du Lion was created in 2007 by Gonçalo de Sousa Monteiro. A year after its opening, Le Lion was named the best newly opened cocktail bar in the world in the USA in 2008. It was Le Lion’s first signature drink. Le Coquetiez du Lion is a sophisticated yet approachable take on the Vesper, Le Coquetiez du Lion pays tribute in both its ingredients and name to drink. A later signature drink is the Gin Basil Smash.

INGREDIENTS

  • 50 ml/ 1 ⅔ oz. Lillet Blanc
  • 30 ml/ 1 oz. Gin
  • 2 dashes of Peychaud`s Bitters

METHOD

  1. Pour all ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice cubes.
  2. Stir well until well-chilled.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  4. Garnish with a lime peel.

Original Sin Cocktail Recipe

ORIGINAL SIN COCKTAIL Recipe

The Original Sin cocktail consists of Sake and Vodka with a delicate hint of honey in an absinthe-flavored glass. The cocktail was created in 2009 by Spike Marchant at the Cabinet Room in London, England.

INGREDIENTS

  • 10 ml/ ⅓ oz. Absinthe
  • 60 ml/ 2 oz. Vodka
  • 22,5 ml/ ¾ oz. Sake
  • 5 ml/ ⅙ oz. honey syrup

METHOD

  1. Pour the Absinthe into ice-filled Martini glass and top with water.
  2. Leave the mixture to stand in the glass.
  3. Pour Vodka, Sake and honey syrup into shaker with ice cubes.
  4. Shake well.
  5. Finally discard contents of absinthe-coated glass and fine strain contents of shaker into absinthe washed glass.
  6. Garnish with star anise.

The Fallen Leaves cocktail was created in 1982 by Charles Schumann in Munich, Germany and first published in his book American Bar. INGREDIENTS

  • 22,5 ml/ ¾ oz. Calvados
  • 22,5 ml/ ¾ oz. Martini Rosso sweet Vermouth
  • 7,5 ml/ ¼ oz. Martini Extra dry Vermouth
  • 5 ml/ ⅙ oz. Rémy Martin Cognac

METHOD

  1. Pour all ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice cubes.
  2. Stil well until well-chilled.
  3. Strain into a chilled glass.

The cocktail Agua de Cuba is a light, summery rum-based drink with fresh watermelon and subtle clove spice. I prefer to strain the cocktail in a red wine glass glass than in a flute.

  • 15 ml/ ½ oz. pumpkin syrup
  • 15 ml/ ½ oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Apple Cider
  • Ginger Beer

METHOD

  1. Fill a red wine glass ½ with ice.
  2. Combine 2 parts Vodka, ½ part freshly squeezed lemon juice and ½ part pumpkin syrup.
  3. Then fill with equal parts apple cider and ginger beer to taste.
  4. Stir slightly.
  5. Garnish with blood orange and apple slices.
