Mastiha Sour Cocktail Recipe

MASTIHA SOUR COCKTAIL Recipe

As the name suggests, the Mastiha Sour cocktail consists of the Greek spirit Masthia and is based on other sour cocktails in its preparation. Mastic is a resin extraction from Skinos trees, which only grow on the island of Chios. The bark of the trunks is scored so that the resin can drip off. The mastic resin is said to have stomach-friendly properties. It is very popular in Greece and used to make various products. You can not only drink mastic pure on ice, but also make exciting cocktails with it.

INGREDIENTS

  • 60 ml/ 2 oz. Mastiha
  • 30 ml/ 1 oz. freshly squezzed lemon juice
  • 10 ml/ ⅓ oz. maple syrup
  • 2- 3 dashes of orange bitters

METHOD

  1. Pour all ingredients into shaker with ice cubes.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Strain into glass filled with ice cubes.
  4. Garnish with a lemon zest twist.
